What is
soap? Soap is a
natural product. It used to contain animal by-products like lard,
pigs' feet and claws or anything that could be turned into a fatty
substance
C'etrange soap is
natural product made with olive oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil, beesway
and various essential oils and herbs for scent
Why handmade
soap? What soap are you currently using? Chances are that it
isn't soap at all but a detergent filled with things you can't pronounce.
Check the label; it may say "body bar", "cleansing bar", or "beauty bar",
but if it doesn't say "soap", it's probably detergent. Even some true
soaps contain harsh chemicals. Again, read the label! C'etrange
natural soaps are handmade from all-natural vegetable oils
(ingredients)
When making soap glycerin is a naturally formed
by-product. And what a
by-product! Glycerin is great for the skin - it's a natural, gentle
emollient. But most big-label soap companies remove the glycerin from
their soaps and sell it separately! Can you tell the difference between a
love letter and junk mail? Between fresh red snapper and fish
sticks? You'll notice a difference in handmade soap, too. Which
explains why handmade soap costs a bit more than what you may be used to.
Quality ingredients cost more but make for a quality product.
Each
bar of C'etrange soap is unique - handmade, cut and trimmed by hand. In
buying our products you are supporting a small business
How is handmade soap
made? Our handmade soap is created using the cold process method from
food grade (edible) vegetable oils. We blend olive, sunflower and
coconut oils; as each of these oils contribute significant properties
to our soap. These oils are then combined with a sodium hydroxide solution
and stirred together to create soap. Just prior to pouring the saponified
oils into our wooden molds we add our essential oils, herbs and spices.
After 48 hours the soap is removed from the mold, hand cut and racked for
curing. We allow our soap to cure for 4 to 6 weeks. The end result is a
mild natural soap that nourishes your skin. All of our soaps are handmade,
one batch at a time.
What ingredients are
used? We use a blend of food-grade (edible) vegetable
oils like olive, sunflower and coconut oils. This produces a firm bar of
soap that is smooth and creamy with lots of lather. Our line of natural
soaps contains no animal products, artificial colorants, preservatives or
synthetic fragrance oils. We are cruelty-free, as our friends and family
very willingly test our soaps. We use only essential oils softly
scent our soap. We also add spices, locally grown organic botanicals and
herbs that compliment the essential oils, and to add texture and color to
our soap.
How is handmade soap different from commercial
soap? Our soap is
handmade using the cold kettle or cold process method. This old fashioned
method of soap making creates and retains glycerin, which helps to
moisturize your skin. You won't have that dry, itchy feeling you get from
using commercial soaps. We do not use any animal or petroleum by-products.
During commercial continuous process soap making the glycerin is removed
and sold separately. Commercial soap contains animal and petroleum-based
ingredients and is actually considered a detergent and not a soap. We just
know that your skin will notice the difference
immediately. Is tallow used in your handmade
soap? We don't use tallow (animal fat) or other animal
products in our soap. Some of the common animal products used in soap
making are tallow, lard, lanolin, milk and beeswax. We believe that we are
able to produce a premium handmade soap without the use of any animal
products in our formula. Tallow can be found in most of the commercial
soap produced today, and it's usually listed in it's saponified state as
sodium tallowate.
I have sensitive skin, can I use handmade
soap? Yes. For those of you with sensitive skin, we recommend
that you do try a handmade soap. We think you'll be surprised at how mild
handmade soap really is. One of our customers has very sensitive skin and
she loves the Gift of Angels rose soap for her face as well as the Pure
Olive soap.
Can I use handmade soap to wash my
hair? Absolutely!
We've been using handmade soap to wash our own hair, and really like the
difference. Just rub the bar of soap across your hair a few times and
you'll have a nice thick lather. There's no residue left on your hair, it
rinses out and leaves your hair squeaky clean.
